EPA Clean School Bus Program Round 3 is Open Now

New Buses

Everyone is busy these days, so let's keep this simple. Do you have at least one (1) school bus in your fleet that fits ALL of the following requirements?

  1. Vehicle model year 2010 or older diesel-powered (could be newer than 2010 if you apply for EVs)
  2. GVWR of 10,001 lbs. or more
  3. Operational at time of application submission (January 31, 2024)
  4. Has provided bus service to your public school district for at least 3 days/week on average during 2022/2023 school year

If the answer is YES to all of the above for at least 1 bus, your district should strongly consider applying for this round of EPA Clean School Bus Rebates.

Similar but slightly different from Round 1 in 2022, EPA’s Clean School Bus Program is offering another $500 million for zero-emission and clean school bus rebates. Note - they are NOT just funding electric buses. There are also rebates available for PROPANE buses!

While this rebate application is based on a random lottery and not a more complicated grant proposal, it can still be confusing to understand the nuances. Let us help you through that. We can also help connect you with the partners - such as charging system providers and utilities - who you'll need on board prior to the application submission.

For those fleets in Oregon, keep in mind that with the state's adoption of CARB emissions standards, you need to consider what alternative fuel direction to go when diesel is no longer available. This is a great opportunity to get ahead of the curve!
